Featured Photographer: Ashley M
We are proud to announce our first ever Chimpsy featured photographer. Today, we are putting Ashley M in the spotlight, who comes to us from Vancouver, WA.
Her image, Tunisian Man, caught our eye in the Chimpsy photo contest. Aside from great light, interesting composition, and some skilled post-processing, the expression on this man’s face can really leave us wondering what’s on his mind, or how he might be feeling. We asked Ashley a little bit about her and this photo:
1. How did you get started with photography?
In 2005, I spent two months hiking through the mountains of Uganda with a tribal group unrecognized by the western world. With nothing but my backpack and “point and shoot” camera, I managed to capture a moment that changed my life and formed my career. The image was of a young boy peering through a field of grass. Looking back on the photo, I now recognize how flawed the image is from a photographic perspective, but the eyes of this child will forever tell a priceless story of a time and a group of people that changed the way I look at the world, and my passion for photographing priceless moments.
2. What class(es) have you taken with Chimpsy so far?
I took the DSLR Intermediate class
3. Any interesting facts about yourself?
I’m married to an awesome man, and I’m a mommy of two sweet little girls, Sophee and Eden.
Thanks so much, Ashley!
